Tummy tuck

(ABOMINOPLASTY)

What is Abdominoplasty?

The abdomen is one of the areas most affected by births and extreme weight changes. Especially in women, with the effect of age and childbirth, excess skin and fat occurs in this area. With the effect of the muscles separated during pregnancy, the abdomen appears loose and convex. This situation results in the deterioration of body lines and the emergence of disproportion, which negatively affects the person both in terms of health and appearance. Abdominoplasty is performed to solve these problems in the abdomen.

To whom is Abdominoplasty surgery applied?

Tummy tuck surgery is applied to people who have sagging in the abdomen after giving birth or excessive weight gain, and who have sagging in the abdomen along with stretch marks and fat accumulation.

How is a Tummy Tuck done?

In Abdominoplasty, the tissues remaining on the abdominal muscle are freed up to the breast with a long incision made from the lower part of the abdomen. The separations in the muscle of the muscle are repaired. The liberated abdominal tissues are stretched and the excess tissue is removed. A new belly button is made and the belly is adapted to its new place. It is aimed to provide a better appearance by performing liposuction before tummy tuck on the side areas of the abdomen.

What is done before Abdominoplasty?

If there is a weight loss process before a tummy tuck, it should be expected to reach the ideal weight. Having a regular diet and sports habits ensures that the results are better and permanent. Before the Abdominoplasty, the necessary tests for anesthesia are performed. Bleeding or coagulation disorder, the presence of varicose veins are questioned and if problems are seen, these conditions are treated first. As in all surgeries, smoking should be stopped at least 2 weeks before as it will adversely affect the recovery in tummy tuck surgery.

What happens during the hospital process in Abdominoplasty?

Abdominoplasty is a procedure that takes 2-3 hours under general anesthesia. Compression stockings are put on as a precaution before the operation. At the end of the operation, a special dressing is made on the abdomen and an abdominal corset is attached. 1 or rarely 2 days of hospitalization may be required. During your stay in the hospital, it is recommended to walk a lot in a slightly bent position.

CAN I GET PREGNANCY AFTER tummy tuck?

It is possible to get pregnant after Abdominoplasty. During pregnancy, the abdominal muscles will separate from each other again, and depending on weight gain, fat accumulation will occur in the abdomen. Although sagging is not as much as before, it may still occur. It should be kept in mind that if pregnancy occurs after tummy tuck surgery, deformation will occur in the abdomen.

Recovery After Tummy Tuck?

Swelling, bruising and pain may occur in the first few days after Tummy Tuck. Pain can be controlled with painkillers. Wearing a corset can speed healing. Swelling and bruising may continue for a week or two.

Within two weeks after the tummy tuck, the person can return to his daily life, provided that he avoids heavy activities. After an average of 1.5 months, sports etc. activities can be returned.

After Tummy Tuck the first week and the second week, controls are made and dressing is applied. It is not recommended to enter environments such as Turkish bath, sauna, solarium in the first months. Walking whenever possible after Tummy Tuck reduces complications as well as accelerates your recovery. In the first days, it is recommended to walk from the waist down.

Results of a tummy tuck?

As a result of Tummy Tuck, you will have a flatter abdomen and reduced stretch marks. Postoperative problems such as edema and asymmetry may occur. If there is excessive swelling in the stomach area, the abdomen may appear somewhat cambered. Full shaping takes 3-6 months, although it varies from person to person.

Risks of Abdominoplasty?

Early-term risks such as bleeding, infection, and wound dehiscence can be seen in this surgery, albeit at a low rate. It is normal to have scars in the incision areas, which are more obvious at first, and take skin color over time. Rarely, people with wound healing disorders may have significant scars. In tummy tuck surgery, the scars are planned to remain inside the bikini. However, your scar may not be hidden in every type of bikini, so it is recommended to choose a bikini according to the trace.

After tummy tuck surgery, due to the increase in pressure in the abdomen, the inability of the veins in the leg to transmit blood to the heart can lead to clot formation. For this, various drugs are used during and after the surgery. The most important thing is to be as active as possible and to walk.

As with all aesthetic surgeries, secondary interventions may be needed after tummy tuck.
