What is Eyelid Aesthetics?
Although surgeries applied to the upper face area are referred to as eyelid aesthetics, in fact, eye contour aesthetics is a more accurate definition. Because with age, the effects of aging begin to appear in all the structures around the eyes. Eyebrow drooping, wrinkles, skin accumulation on the upper eyelid, bagging on the lower eyelid, pulling down the middle face and ring appearance under the eyes, tear trough deformity are the problems that occur in general. Procedures to correct these can be grouped under the title of eye contour aesthetics.

What are the Aesthetic Procedures Performed Around the Eyes?
The accumulation of skin on the upper eyelid, which is one of the most common conditions, is surgically removed. If there is a drooping eyelid, ptosis can be corrected, if there is a droopy eyebrow, eyebrow suspension or temple stretching, microoil injection can be applied if a more renewed appearance is desired. The place of fat accumulation that causes bagging on the lower eyelid is spread under the eye or to the cheek area and the bagging is corrected. A more effective result is obtained if a mid-face lift is applied with the lower eyelid.
For whom is Blepharoplasty performed?
It is applied to people who have sagging, bagging and wrinkles around the eyes as well as in the whole face with age. In general, the need for application increases after the age of 40. Sometimes thyroid, liver disorders or diabetes can cause deformities around the eyes. In this case, first of all, eye consultation may be required to see if there is any disease.
How is Blepharoplasty performed?
In the upper eyelid, the incision is planned in the eyelid fold, while the lower eyelid is planned to be 2 mm below the eyelashes. The procedure is generally performed under local anesthesia. Necessary blood tests must be applied before the operation. Aesthetics around the eyes generally lasts for 1-2 hours and there is no need to stay in the hospital.
How is the Recovery Period of Blepharoplasty?
After the surgery, a dressing made of thin bands around the eyes does not affect the visual functions of the person.
After Eye Contour Aesthetics, a feeling of tightness, swelling, and slight bruising may occur on the eyelids. Ice can be applied on the first day. It is recommended to sleep with a high pillow for less edema.
There may be light sensitivity after the surgery, it is recommended to use sunglasses for a day or two. Antibiotics, pain relievers and eye drops are prescribed and it is recommended to use them regularly.
In 7-10, the person can return to his normal life.
What are the Undesirable Conditions in Blepharoplasty?
Aesthetics around the eyes generally include processes that heal without any problems. Bleeding or infection is very rare. Vision is not affected, eyelid functions are not affected. Rarely, ectropion may occur in the lower eyelid, this may be due to the removal of excess skin from the lower eyelid. If it does not improve with massage, it may require revision.
