One of the most frequently asked questions after breast augmentation surgery is when it's safe to swim in the sea or pool. This question is especially important for those considering surgery in the summer months and planning their vacations around the surgery.

Breast augmentation surgery is performed on individuals with insufficient breast volume. The appropriate breast implant is placed through a short incision under the breast, either within the breast tissue, the muscle membrane, or partially under the muscle. The incision is closed using aesthetic wound closure techniques.
The incision area usually heal within a few weeks after breast augmentation surgery. Patients can return to their daily activities within 7-10 days. Swimming in the sea or pool is permitted approximately 4-6 weeks after breast augmentation surgery.
Swimming in the sea or pool before the incision line has completely healed after breast augmentation surgery can increase the risk of infection. It can be especially dangerous to swim in water that is not clean. Therefore, it's advisable to swim in the sea or pool only after wound healing is complete.
Strong activity after breast augmentation surgery can negatively impact the surgical area. Therefore, it is recommended to resume sports activities such as swimming after 4-6 weeks. Overexertion of the muscles can negatively impact implant placement and capsule formation.
Exposure to the sun before the suture lines heal after breast augmentation surgery can negatively impact wound healing. Therefore, it is recommended that those undergoing surgery, especially in the summer, postpone their vacation plans for 4-6 weeks after surgery or have the surgery after their return.
